Professor Thurman is an American Buddhist author and academic who has written, edited, and translated notable books on Tibetan Buddhism. He is the father of actress Uma Thurman. He was also the Je Tsongkhapa Professor of Indo-Tibetan Buddhist Studies at Columbia University. Time magazine named him one of the 25 most influential Americans in 1997.
